U.S. Spring Storms (UMCOR Advance #901670)
As powerful storms continue to sweep across the middle of the US, and flood waters rise, residents are anticipating a clean-up of historic magnitude. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is working to assess and respond to the wide spread damage. If you would like to support their work, UMCOR envelopes are available in the church lobby, and may be deposited in the offering plate during morning services or in the plate located in the lobby. Emergency Disaster Relief from Earthquake in China:
You are encouraged to give generously to UMCOR Advance #982450, International Disaster Response, China Earthquake. Gifts to the China Earthquake response will go towards the Amity Foundation’s relief work. Amity has issued an appeal for ten million yuan, nearly $1.5 million, to carry out t his work. (Envelopes are available directly outside of the sanctuary.)
EMERGENCY DISASTER RELIEF IN MYANMAR (Burma)

On May 2nd a cyclone hit Myanmar’s coast leaving over 20,000 dead and another 40,000 still missing. In light of this tragedy, please pray for the people of Myanmar, both for their devastating losses and for new venues for assistance to be opened to help those in need. Financial gifts will allow UMCOR to respond immediately and with generosity when the appropriate structures are in place to receive further assistance. Envelopes labeled “UMCOR: Myanmar” will be gathered by the church and then sent collectively to the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
For more than 60 years, UMCOR has responded in the spirit of Jesus to individuals in need around the globe. UMCOR focuses on providing national and international disaster relief, and assistance with refugee resettlements. UMCOR also emphasizes eradicating the roots of hunger and poverty by establishing training schools and working with individuals to learn skills leading to independence.
