Our Joyous Ringers Handbell Choir includes eleven ringers ranging in age from college students to mothers with young children, several with college age children, and some grandmothers--always willing to give advice!
Some never held a bell before. Each ringer plays two notes. Many were not able to take part in vocal choir but love music and surely enjoy being part of our caring group. New members are warmly welcomed and appreciated.
Humorous sayings of our youngsters are shared, and often the surprised reaction of a ringer making a sudden, loud mistake brings fun moments during practice. Pieces of medium difficulty are chosen so we can look forward to pleasant, relaxed practices. We have seasonal snack parties and enjoy our fellowship times.
Practices are the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 202 as we prepare for ringing monthly in our church services. In winter and spring we join with the Women's Chamber Chorus for their annual conerts at West Side. During the spring we practice pieces leading to a massed bell ring workshop in early May in Wayne, Mi. with an outstanding guest conductor. We join other church choirs and present a concert for family and friends. This is a highlight of our year.
