Christian
Home Groups at West Side United Methodist Church seek to provide opportunities
for Christians
seeking to grow in faith by building relationships with each other
through small group gatherings.
The groups typically consist of approximately 8 persons and meet in member’s homes on a regular basis. The format of the meetings may vary according to each individual group, but all include prayer and sharing, are positive, nurturing and supportive.
One group met and worked on a community service
project of stuffing/labeling envelopes for the American Cancer Society. While
they worked at that task, they took turns turning the crank on an ice
cream freezer and made homemade peach ice cream. While the ice cream cured, they
all went out to eat at a local restaurant, and then came back to the house
to eat the peach ice cream for dessert.
The goal of Christian Home Groups is to develop authentic Christian relationships using a variety of approaches that will support and nurture us in our Christian walk.
It is our belief that when people meet in Christian Home Groups they will begin as strangers or acquaintances, and will grow to become friends--even as close as family. The groups provide an opportunity for Christian fellowship, a way for members to feel more connected to the community of faith, and as a result, a closer relationship with God.
Nurturing Faith “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42).
